The Web3 ecosystem at Duke is growing rapidly through collaborations between students, alumni, faculty, and partners.

These collaborations are led by three key players: Gain Ventures, The Duke Blockchain Club, and BullCityDAO.

The Duke Blockchain Club organizes events to raise awareness of careers in crypto, blockchain, and decentralization. BullCityDAO allows students to gain first-hand experience with DAO governance and engage alumni pioneers in the space, and Gain Ventures unlocks the Duke Web3 ecosystem for corporate partnerships, investors, and startup founders looking to get involved.

With top faculty like Campbell Harvey leading Web3 curriculum and research, combined with massive conferences, Pitch Competitions, and Hackathons, Duke is primed as a leader in Web3 innovation.

However, the transient nature of student organizations makes it hard for partners to see tangible outcomes. While students bring energy and new ideas, their many priorities mean Web3 is not always the central focus. When club leadership graduates each year, any progress and existing collaborations are at risk of falling through the cracks.

This is where Gain Ventures comes in, a Web3 venture studio led by Duke alumni. Integrated with student groups and professors, Gain Ventures ensures that any partners continue to see growth and value over the long run. We provide continuity and professional partnerships for students to take their Web3 experience to the next level.

With oversight from veteran alumni, Gain Ventures gives shape to the ideas sparked on campus. We help organize flagship conferences like DW3C to convene students with industry trailblazers. Hackathons and pitch competitions drive year-round entrepreneurial activity.

Our full-time team provides institutional knowledge as students come and go. We drive outcomes, from securing high-profile speakers to forming new partnerships that enrich the ecosystem.
